Growing Pains

from $15.00

A flower stands stoically in deep darkness, the only light from glowing bugs that fly softly around it. The petals unfold, the outside depicting faces, the inside a deep red. A figure at the center of the flower, coated in gold reaches towards a ethereal insect that hovers slightly above.

This is about the pain of growth, the petals on the outside most will eventually fall and wither, while the petals on the inside fold out as they approach their time to fall. The closer to the center, the more the faces appear relieved and calm. The center of every flower seeks to be pollinated, and the figure held inside reaches to the insect for its final phase.

Original made with Gouache, Watercolour, Pencil and Gel Pen.

Printed on acid free art paper.
